Does well for dayhike
0 5 5

This pack makes the weight feels much lighter. I had 2L of Platypus in it together with a DSLR and another 700ml water bottle which fits fine in the side pocket. I felt only minimal pressure on my shoulder. Only negative is perhaps the waist straps that are just too long.

A well-built light daypack

I considered the Sonar, Gregory's Miwok 24, and Osprey's Stratos 24 before going with the Sonar. The Stratos's curvature is good, I guess, for someone who tends to sweat a lot. I don't have that problem and wouldn't mind the curvature if it did not bring my center of gravity backward with somewhat heavy weight in the pack. On the other hand, Both the Sonar and Miwok lean more against the back and provide better balance. For carrying little, the Miwok does a better job at hugging the body. But as the weight gets heavier, the stronger frame and waistbelt of the Sonar provide the right comfort, making the weight feel lighter. Thus, the Sonar. Quality construction at a reasonable price!
