Established as The Frye Company in Marlboro, Mass., in 1863, Frye is the oldest continuously operated boot and shoe manufacturer in the United States. What began as a local leather shoemaking business eventually developed the manufacturing and facilities to outfit soldiers during the war. In the mid-20th century, the company was the footwear of the famous, designing custom shoes for Jackie Kennedy and Bing Crosby. Today, Frye’s popularity has seen a resurgence, with flagship stores opening in New York and Atlanta. Demand for their stylish men’s leather boots and women’s Chelsea Boots have stemmed from more contemporary celebrity endorsements. Pairs of their classic Melanie women's slip-ons are favourites in Canadian cities during the summer months.
