It’s a filter and it works well. Light and portable. This is the one for any backpacking.

Best filter of its kind on the market!

I've been wanting one of these for years and finally pulled the trigger. Great quality filter that I can rely on in the bush. Well made and up to the standard of what I come to expect from MSR. I was originally looking at more compact filters but I didn't want to chance cross-contamination between dirty water and clean, and it's nice that there is a tube that goes in the water instead of filling a bottle with dirty water and putting the filter on and drawing from that, like how the sawyer filter works. The MSR filter gives me peace of mind when I'm far from a clean water source, especially seeing as how it can be disassembled and maintained in the field. If you're on the fence about this, get it, you won't regret it!

  Best Filter on the market

  12/18/25

Did a lot of research and this is definitely the best filter on the market. Works flawlessly, great flow and easy to clean. The filter is a touch big in the pack for back country camping but the cleaning & reusable ceramic filter makes it worth the grams.
