    Great functional pack

Have used this pack on 2 ski tours in moderate to harsh weather. Was able to bring along a surprising amount of gear and layers! Easy to access. Fits well (5’2”) and very stable when skiing (feels like skiing with no pack). Small enough to ride comfortably on a chair lift without removing pack (where permitted). Avalanche pouch: - bulky material and an odd wedge shape - shovel and probe sleeves are not full length of the pouch, so there will be contact between your metal shovel blade and your carbon probe - pouch length is short: ortovox pro light shovel handle is a tight fit; BD 300 carbon probe is too long (47cm) and the older BD 320 (45cm) is a very tight fit; can put probe in main pouch - zipper catches where the pouch clip is sewn in; believe this will become less of an issue as the pack wears in Axe carry: functional and basic but no integrated way to tuck the pick close to the pack; however, can use the extender strap to secure the pick. Ski carry, diagonal: can be done without removing pack. Helmet carry: snug fit for regular downhill helmet. Hip pocket: good size. Would like to have another on the other side or at least a gear loop. Can use the side compression straps to secure a rope or quickly stow an extra layer for the climb and still access the interior via either zipper. Requires learning a different way to pack your gear vs. a top loader, but worth it!
