Warm beanie. Does the job. Can sound crinkly. I wear it with a Smartwool merino liner beanie. Could be improved if the interior material were softer/less crinkly. Also tends to ride up with wear occasionally due to its design. Have a S/M head but bought the L/XL based on other reviews and find it to be a good fit.
This is fantastic to put in your pocket or backpack. Weighs almost nothing. Foldable. Super warm. Highly recommended especially if weight is your thing. Recommend to buy a size up. It runs small.

This beanie is nice and warm. My only complaint would be that due to the fabric it can be noisy when it rubs against my ears. I solved that by having a very thin microfibre beanie under it. I ordered the larger size (my head is on the bigger side) and the fit is tight but not uncomfortable.
Cute hat. I liked it very much at first, The only problem is that it keeps sliding up. You have to remember to arrange its position.
I try to find ways to reduce weight and space when doing long through hikes. My wool beanies weren't really that heavy but they never compressed very well and took up a lot of pack space. This outdoor research beanie solves that problem. I can wear it in the morning when I'm closing up my tent site and then just shove it into any pocket before I start hiking. The down side is because it's down, I wouldn't hike with it on. Once it gets wet, it's not going to retain heat anymore. But that's a property of down, not a con of the beanie itself. It does block out a lot of sound and if you walk with it on, you tend to hear a lot of scratching sounds in your ears. A very thin microfibre or fleece layer would help with that in a future iteration, but I understand that it would then increase the size and weight.
Looks silly in the pic but looks cute on my head! Fits small so I bought the Large. Fits my medium size head just fine! Love it!
The perfect backcountry beanie
A little bit weird as far as the look goes but it's a warm beanie that packs small. Like other reviewers have said it is small. I bought the L/XL it is not a XL.
