  Good shelter for bikepacking

  When I'm on my bike I tend to opt for this larger shelter, as weight isn't as much a concern and sometimes I'd want to shelter my bike/pack from the rain.

  Large and high quality tarp. Colour is like the colour of cedar boughs and will blend in nicely to the forest. Haven't tried it in the rain yet, but it's handled everything else nicely so far.

  Very large tarp for the weight with lots of attachment points. May be fragile for high wind setups.

  Siltarp 3

  Siltarp 3 is a great size, one that I needed. However the tarps lash points are not reinforced enough for the size of the tarp. I've had siltarp 2 fail before in high winds with lash points so I'm not confident in this siltarp 3- was hoping for improvements. Larger should come stronger, but I get it doesnt have as much reinforcement as a weight savings. Tarp is thin and delicate, does the job well for weight/strength ratio, just be aware of its limits.

  Great size for backpacking with freinds or family--We have easily had 8 people cooking and hanging out under this, with room to keep some gear dry as well. We got this to take for an 8 person group trip on BC's West Coast Trail later in the year. The size would be overkill for two people. There are lots of reinforced tie-in points which gives it lots of options for set-up. So far have used twice-- once set up on some ropes between trees, and another time with driftwood on a beach. First time out with the tarp was torrential downpour for 8 hours-- the group was very happy we brought this along! Allowed us to all hang out together rather than retreating to our tents. Worth making the relatively small amount of space available for it in the pack on group trips!

  This is a high quality tarp.

  It's expanded to an area of 3 x 3.66m. I like the square tarp. It's a little thicker than I expected, but lighter than I expected. Use it for shade in the summer and to keep you and your backpack dry when it rains. It's perfect for car and backpacking. I can't wait to use it!
