I have only used in light rain and it performed well. It’s crazy light. I have a muscular build, 165lbs, 5,8, I’m between large & med. I took the Med and it fits perfect for my arms and chest.
This jacket is super light and comfortable, perfect to run in the rain. It is a bit noisy though
This RAB jacket weighs practically nothing and is a very effective hooded jacket for countering wind and rain. I have used it both on backcountry skiing and hiking trips. Definitely a “don’t leave home without it” choice for me.
Used for fall cycling on cold or rainy days, works well.
Super light and great for running in cool conditions
So far so amazing. It is beyond light, holds out the rain for a good amount of time and is breathable. I ran in it during a 75 minute rain run the other day and from I can tell it didn't "leak". . . I am a heavy sweater so there was still internal moisture but in comparison to other jackets I have had it was still breathing and deflecting. Given it is so light, I am nervous that I will catch in on something and it will snag/rip – fingers crossed on that. Also, the description says it is a “Slim fit” so I bought a M (I am usually a S/M) but a S would have been ideal so keep that in mind – otherwise, this is a great jacket!
I’ve used this on mountain runs in BC in stormy, cold weather with mixed precipitation (rain, sleet). With a lightweight merino wool base layer, this kept my upper body completely dry without feeling clammy. Very thin, lightweight material, but I’ve had no durability issues so far. It functions better with a brimmed running cap to improve face coverage in the rain. Lighter weight and certainly more packable than the Patagonia Storm Racer jacket (which is also a great product). I think the Phantom is perfect to stow in a running pack or belt when conditions are iffy. Very high quality, although the reverse side zippers Rab uses always throw me off! A minor gripe for a great product. I’m 5’6”, 145lbs, 37” chest and small fits great over a base layer.
I bought this jacket for backpacking but it has quickly become a go to for travel and daily use for light weight rain and wind protection. It fits perfectly and is very comfortable. It has been tested in heavy rain with wind and I had no leaks.
Compact, light, it fold in a pocket in is cap.
