  Excellent Warmth Without Bulk

  True to the brand, this beanie is excellent quality—soft, non-itchy, and very effective at keeping your head and ears warm on blisteringly cold days. It is thin enough to fit comfortably under a hood or helmet, yet still provides solid insulation. It also stays securely in place, which is often an issue for me with toques. When not needed, it packs down easily and can be stuffed into a jacket pocket. The fit is true to size.

  So far this beanie was a good choice. It is the quality you'd expect from smartwool. The interior has an additional, fluffy band around your ears to help keep them warm. For folks with a larger head, it's a bit snug and the elastic band in the lower portion does make it feel a bit tighter because it digs in a bit. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of.
