I've been a die hard running in another brand for years - and finally thought Id try to make it through a summer without a black toe nail. The altra folks did a trial at my running store and I think the wider box might be a fit. AND- the olive green and pink look great together. I went up 1/2 a size and the fit is good.
This is the perfect shoes with the BOA it make it quick and easy to adjust fit on different terrain. (down hill (tight) avoid black toes. . .
Timp 5 BOA – Trail Running Shoes Malheureusement, ces chaussures ne me conviennent pas. Les BOA font mal et on les sent clairement à travers la chaussure, ce qui crée de l’inconfort pendant la course. Comparativement aux autres modèles Altra que j’ai portés, le confort général est très décevant : je donnerais un 3/10. Elles ne sont tout simplement pas faites pour moi.
The first pair I got was on women's size because women's went on sale while men's where still in regular price. But after trying them for a week on the women's size, and because they're that great in comfort, fit and built quality, it convinced me to buy a 2nd but now on my actual men's size which luckily went on sale a week after the lady's sizes went on sale. Both of my pairs are on the Blackout colorway, I wish one was the white/red colorway but unfortunately it was not available in my size anymore. Anyways still worth it, specially I got both on sale price. The BOA really works great that makes the fit fitting like a glove. Cushion on foot is just perfect that doesn't give fatigue on long time wearing. Even they look rugged, they still have that smooth tough style look.
Altra is becoming my go-to for shoes. Appreciate the wide toe box that accommodate how feet are shaped. Quality is top notch like my other Altra shoes. Only wished more of them came with Boa. True to size for wide feet.
Really like the design, very light shoe, and had an overall great fit except for right at the tongue with the BOA system, created a bit of a sore spot which ended up making me return them. Had to size down about a 1/2 size with Altra.
Coming from an Altra Lone Peak 9, I was a little nervous about how the toe box felt. Certainly a bit more restrictive than Lone Peak. I wear a 8. 5 in the LP9, but sized up to a 9 in the Timp. However, after the first couple of KMs the shoe opened up a bit, and gave me the toe mobility I was looking for. The Vibram sole is excellent on wet and steep mountain trails. Never lost confidence even on wet rocks and roots. And the BOA system is great for adjusting the fit on the fly, even with gaiters on. I might love this shoe! I hope they hold up over time.
Almost as good as the original but not quite. I prefer the fit of the laced timp 5 but the boa system is still really good! Personal preference.
Altra finally nailed the BOA for runners. I was disappointed in their BOA Mount Blanc, but this version of the TIMP fits well without the crimping of the upper on the MB. The Timp does not have the ankle bite of the MB. This is an excellent shoe.
I bought these for my 13 year old, who has broad and big feet for his age. He uses them for everyday and of course x-country and trail running. Is the third pair of Altra, but the laceless-boa option so far has been the best solution. Easy to put on and comfortable on the foot. The shoes are very light. Kinda cool too in full black.
