  super stylish and durable. works great as a layering piece or as a standalone. Beta AR with a down jacket underneath was my go-to winter setup. seems pricey at first but well worth the investment!

  Great Jacket!!

  I purchased this to replace the same jacket that I’ve owned for over 10 years and it’s been used hard. This jacket has what I say is an upgrade in terms of hood cinches and overall hood fit. The original jacket is still going strong, but is now solely for backcountry trips. The blue looks great and am real happy with this purchase.

  EXPENSIVE...but for me, worth it.

  I've been on the fence for a few years regarding this jacket. I could never justify the cost as I have other Arcteryx shells that have served me well, though they are lighter in nature, namely an SL and SV in other models...at a much lower cost. I decided to bite the bullet (thanks to sales) and try this heavier shell to see if it would work in a layering system for sport...which I assume from the description is the intended role of the Beta AR. First of all, sizing. Compared to my other Arcteryx shells, this one runs a bit on the larger size, presumably for layering purposes...and it performs well in this regard. It seems to be built with the usual quality that the company is known for (my lighter models have lasted more than 4 years and show no signs of an early death). I haven't put it through seriously wet conditions yet, but it handles regular rain and wind without any hiccups and helps insulate the mid-layers very well. I plan on having this jacket for a long time and it's a perfect complement to my lighter jackets.

  Awesome Jacket but difficult sizing

  Great looking jacket but sizing was tough. Large was a bit too big, I'm 5'9 and 190lbs and Arms were slightly too long, body was a bit wide at the waist. Medium was a near perfect fit but was slightly tight when wearing a sweater underneath. The collar and DropHood also make it hard to wear anything with a hood underneath.

  Excellent Shell jacket

  Used this once walking in a snowstorm. I was perfectly dry and the wind was kept out as well. Good size as I was able to fit several layers underneath. Would definitely recommend this jacket.

  The best shell for all around outdoor use

  This is my second Beta AR and it’s just as good as the last and now with most rugged tech it should be even more durable (not that that was an issue before). The hood on this is great with many adjustability points to get a perfect fit. This piece is designed for layering so it fits a bit bigger. If you are planning to wear this primarily with one layer you can probably size down but you’re probably better off with a different piece anyways. Overall it’s a extremely weather resistant shell than anyone who buys it likely won’t be disappointed by.

  Amazing jacket that will last a lifetime

  I had an older Beta AR jacket that I had purchased in 2015, but decided to give the new updated version a try. When I received it, I found it to be a better version with Arcteryx logo stitched instead of drawn in on to the fabric. The fabric seems stiffer and the inside pocket seems to have enlarged from the previous model. I bought it to be worn for everyday commute and seems to be an overkill for commute. Nonetheless, it is worth the investment as I know it will keep me dry in any adverse conditions.

  Pros : the fit is great, rain protection is amazing, the quality of the materials are next level. Cons : the price, the jacket could one or two more pockets, it would be great if the zipper on the side could go all the way down

  Nice jacket

  Got this as a birthday present to my boyfriend, he liked it a lot. It is roomy so he can layer underneath the jacket, which is perfect for Vancouver fall & winter

  Amazing jacket.. snug around bottom

  Tech in this jacket is second to none for the intended users. Coming from an older Patagonia Triolet the fit is slimmer especially around the hips if you are a little “thicker”. Would recommend this jacket anyway.
