Le manteau est très beau. Par contre il n'est pas assez chaud. Celui-ci a un intérieur en laine polaire, mais la chaleur n'est pas au rendez-vous si vous bougez peu. Il respire bien et a une multitudes de poches qui sont pratiques pour apporter des choses en randonnées. À mon avis il s'agit plus d'un manteau d'été que pour les autres saisons. Je lui donne 4 étoiles pour la coupe et le style, mais 2 étoiles pour la chaleur. Il faut assurément mettre une autre couche sous le manteau pour être au chaud. En comparaison, ma veste Atom Lt de la même marque est plus chaude, mais respire moins que ce manteau.

I got the Gamma Mx for cool temperature hiking. I was concerned it would have some trouble breathing, but after multiple hikes, switching base and mid layers around, I found breathing through the MX was no issue at all and it easily blocked wind and light rain. The bonded fleece interior liner is a nice bit of insulation which I have found useful. I usually take a 2XL in all my tops and luckily the Gamma MX fit spot on. Room enough for layers in a wide range of thicknesses and the jacket can still fit over a t-shirt and look good. The stretchy material helps in this regard. The sleeves have a little extra length but absolutely fit fine. Light rain in a hike just fell off the exterior material, such as it does with anything coated with DWR. Wind in temps 0 ro 5 degrees C have been nothing of a concern., but of course what you pair up with the Gamma MX in your base and mid layers helps the entire comfort result. I have favoured a Patagonia Nano Puff or a light fleece as a mid. A standard polyester or merino 100 for a base, either work well with this set-up. The cons here are three IMO. 1. Price. I paid full pop cause I wanted a particular colour that isn't made in the latest revision. Hard to swallow, but bottom line, for fall winter hiking in a soft shell this is a very good product, period. 2. The hood. Arcteryx loves big hoods so that they can accommodate helmets. I don't use a helmet as I don't climb or ski. It does cinch down so that over a beanie it is comfortable. But some excess garment in that regard makes it a bit sloppy looking. But I can live with that. 3. I would have liked velcro @ the cuffs. However the existing material there is fairly robust. Other than those things the Gamma MX is a great hoody/jacket to use outdoors in non-extreme weather and in cooler fall, early winter temps. It does a nice job of keeping regulated temperatures and you never feel clammy, which is important. Kudos to Alti for fast shipping to Ontario. Recommended.

Pretty typical arcteryx quality, very nicely made softshell. The dwr coating sheds light drizzle nicely and the fit is spot on for anyone who takes a large and has an athletic build. I have two dislikes of this jacket though. First, I was expecting a little more insulation. The fleece lining is thinner than I expected, it's not much warmer than the Gamma Lt. The second thing I dislike about this jacket is that they've done a helmut compatible hood, but this particular softshell material is very soft and the hood is quite floppy.It's hard to get it fitted and not flopping down and obstructing your vision if you aren't wearing a helmut.

J’en ai eu un qui m’a duré 10 ans. Je récidive donc. À porter en ville l’automne. Il m’est aussi arrivé de l’utiliser pour le ski de fond. Très durable. J’aime la couleur flux qui tire un peu sur le brun et le bourgogne en même temps et la poche sur le bras de couleur noire lui ajoute du style! Prêt pour un autre 10 ans!!!

It doesn't looks bulky but doesn't limit your movement at all. Thickness is perfect, can be stand alone or go with a middle layer. Not that "outdoor" So can wear It in the city.

Softshell d'excellente facture. C'est du Arcteryx! Je l'ai reçu tout juste avant la grande canicule au Québec en 2020 donc je ne l'ai pas encore porté suffisamment. J'aurais pensé que le matériel aurait été plus épais (comme un ancien modèle). J'ai acheté le MX en même temps que le Atom LT en médium les 2. Le MX est dit coupe régulière et je suis plus ajusté que le Atom qui est une coupe ajustée. Donc prévoyez en conséquence pour le multicouche mais le Atom entre très bien en dessous avec un t-shirt sans être trop serré. Si j'ajoute un Proton FL c'est trop serré en dessous des bras... La capuche est éééénorme et une drôle de forme. Je ne sais pas pourquoi elle est ainsi. J'ai au moins 15 manteaux/vestes Arcteryx avec capuche et aucune ne se comparent. Faut vraiment l'essayer pour comprendre. Elle s'ajuste quand même bien malgré tout sans casque... J'aurais aimé plus d'ampleur sur l'élastique du poignet et/ou avec une attache en velcro supplémentaire. Ma montre Fenix 6x Pro Solar passe très difficilement à un point telle qu'elle va sûrement rester très longtemps dans le manteau malheureusement. J'aurais apprécié que les appliqués gris (voir photo) soient noir comme le reste du manteau et que le logo soit brodé au lieu d'imprimé. Quand tu paies cher pour du Arcteryx, tu veux que les logos soient durables et beaux longtemps... Un logo sur la poche du bras comme les femmes avec Arcteryx écrit sur la poitrine aurait été parfait. J'ai hâte de l'utiliser dans une situation d'exercice plus intense pour vérifier comment il respire et sous la neige et la pluie. J'avais déjà le pantalon du même modèle et année et il est génial... 4.25/5
