Bon rapport qualité-prix
Très bon rapport qualité prix. J'aurais pensé qu'il aurait été plus petit et plus léger. Il est résistant et rentre de justesse dans un sac à dos (50-90 litres).

This bear canister is bigger than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. Still small enough to fit into my pack but I can comfortably fit several days of food in there. I also like the locking mechanism, which for sure no bear can get into unless they're carrying a loonie in their pocket. The surface is very smooth without any edges for teeth or claws to latch onto. However that smoothness also creates a small problem: if you want to hang it from a tree, you'll have to fashion some kind of sling since there are no attachment points at all. Maybe it's a good excuse to learn some macrame.
The keg is great all around, the only complaint I have is that there is no eyelets or anything to connect rope to. This means it might be a challenge to tie to the outside of a pack or hoist up in a tree. As for what it is, it is a great product.
Have not put it to use yet, but the container was actually larger than I expected; the label says it can fit up to several days worth of food for two people. Purchased this brand since I believe it is the only one universally accepted at all national parks in the United States.
Have used this once in Algonquin and can say that no bears got in. I was able to pack enough food for one person for a 3 night camping trip, but couldn't fit my cookware. I much preferred it to trying to hoist my food into a tree. It is however very round and I do worry that it could easily roll downhill or into a lake, especially if a bear decided it was worth investigating. It's also not water proof which would be a nice feature.
The Counter Assault bear canister has quickly become my go-to food storage solution for backcountry trips. The wide opening makes it incredibly easy to organize food and access contents without digging around or struggling to fit larger items inside. The three screw closures are also very simple to use — no special tools required. I usually use a quarter or even a washer to open and close them without any hassle. While I still love my Bear Vault, it’s unfortunately not accepted in all National Parks, which makes the Counter Assault a much more reliable option when traveling to different areas with varying regulations. It gives great peace of mind knowing it’s widely approved. Overall, this is a durable, practical, and park-friendly bear canister that I’d confidently recommend to any backpacker.
This product is very solidly made and will definitely keep our food safe. We're traveling in polar bear country on a canoe trip this summer and this is the container that has been recommended by the park. If a bear gets to it and rolls it away somewhere, the colour will show up well so we can retrieve it.
Just what I was looking for! Unfortunately I will not get to try it till ice is out☹️. Looking forward to my early spring backcountry trip.
Very durable and tough. Have not used it yet but it is small enough to fit in my kayak compartment which is why I bought it.
Very sturdy barrel/cnnister that will protect your food from wildlife. It's easy (for humans) to open, but impossible for animals to do so, and the plastic is thick so it's hard to break into. Bears can unscrew some other brands' cannisters, but they can't open this mechanism. The downside is that it's a little heavy and can be unwieldy; you can buy a case for the cannister that lets you attach it to a hiking backpack. Overall, it's probably the best item on the market for bringing food into the wild (and it's been on the market for a long time, at a competitive price).
