First, let me say that I just love this coat. I have never used it for several months. I went and bought the hood as well as a liner and it is the ultimate year long jacket. It is strong and wears well. It looks great. The weight though heavy feels nicely distributed. Goes well with casual clothes but also with a blazer. An excellent product.
It was a toss up between this and the Barbour Ashby for a wax cotton jacket. I wanted a coat made from natural materials (not hi-tech) for casual daily wear during spring and fall. I'm very happy with the Mile Marker Coat, it seems like classic Filson quality throughout. Keep in mind the jacket is essentially a shell with no insulation, although Filson does make several zip-in insulated liners. In my case the fit is perfect. It's on the roomy side but more trim than other Filson coats of the same size...so not consistent. Try it on if you can or have a return option.
This is a well made high quality waxed cotton jacket. I liked the heavy brass zipper and snaps were high quality. The material had a slight sheen to it from the wax that I didn’t care for. I found the fit to be slightly large however if I wanted to layer it was well fitted for that. The otter green in person was greener then in the picture. I ended up returning this jacket as I didn’t like the way it fit me.
