These shorts are exceptionally comfortable in certain ways, but not comfortable in others. The fabric is wonderfully soft and keeps you warm in cold weather. But at least when worn with a certain pair of pants, these shorts rode up into my buttock crease, which was not at all comfortable. It was better with another pair of pants. And so I am still learning about how these shorts will be. Perhaps it is a sizing issue, as the shorts were a bit loose.

Tried these base layers on several colder walks and same as any icebreaker base layer, wick sweat perfectly and keep warm !
Great base layer for shoulder season and warmer winter days when you need just thigh coverage. Even on colder days these do the job for higher output activities when you need a bit of a layer under your shell. Also -- simplifies things if you are wearing knee protection for skiing or mountain biking. Super comfortable -- you barely notice them. I am 6. 0’ and 195lbs and they fit just right. Not so tight that they bind, but not too loose either. Wash these in cold on the delicate cycle and you should get many years out of them - more durable than you would think. If you are in the backcountry, you can wear these for multiple days (if you have to. . . ) and the merino does its magic. A little pricey but you are getting a sustainable natural fibre.

great fit for my husband, light and warm.
I use these all the time to layer for winter sports, when long johns are too, well, longish. These cover things well without overheating. Got a second pair after using the first for a few winters.
