Took this front country camping and really liked it. It’s too bulky in my opinion for the back country but tones of room, easy to set up and overall really liked the design. Took it out in October and wasn’t cold, so it might be a bit hot in the dead of the summer.
For price range and weight, this is the best 4p tent. Next best from this is double the price. Easy to set up and really durable.
Recommended to me by a person with the Tungsten 2. and I have only set it up in the yard.
We used this tent for our family of 4 on a 6 day canoe trip in Algonquin. Fly works great to keep you dry, it's plenty bug for a family if four and remarkably light and compact for its size.
The tent is well built, easy to set up and has good materials. It even includes a footprint. Would definitely recommend. Only a few small drawbacks, it doesn't come with enough stakes for the guy lines, the guy lines are not attached nor are they reflective. Otherwise great
Bought this tent in June 2024 for a backcountry trip in Banff in August 2024 with my gals. The supporting poles broke on the 3 night of ever using this tent! The pole ended-up with a sharp-edge and almost punctured the rainfly (but we caught it on time). Thankfully, the sharp-edge didn't puncture the rainfly because we had torrential rainfall that night (it was same night it hailed nearby Calgary in August 2024). We were able to continue using it on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th night of our trip because we covered the break (heavily) with medical tape. Fast forward a few weeks later, my boyfriend's 2-person Marmot tent broke in the exact same way!! I wasn't setting up the tent that time, so it's not a "me" problem. We were camping in Northern Vancouver Island with heavy rainfall - again, thankfully we caught the break on-time and the rainfly wasn't punctured. Unfortunately I will never buy a Marmot tent after these experiences.. Pros: - Packs down pretty well with a compressible dry sack - Lighter than most 4-person tents in this price range (compared lots of tents) - Light enough that you can take it on a 5-night backcountry camping trip if everyone else within your group is packing relatively ultralight - Roomy - Easy to set-up / take-down Despite these pros, I simply can't increase the star-count. Both Marmot tents I've had experience with incurred serious breakages in the backcountry, which could have prevented us from having a shelter. ALWAYS bring some tape and basic repair supplies!
Nous avons eu une fin de semaine diluvienne et pas une goutte d'eau n'est entrée.
Purchased the 3P version initially and upgraded to the 4P to fit 2 twin foam mattresses. Very quick and simple to set up. Tested in moderate rain and stayed dry. Would recommend!
Purchased this tent to use back country canoe camping. We already have a MEC Cabin 4, but it requires a large area to set up, which isn't always available in the back country. We have owned a Tungsten 3 for the last 8 years, and it was certainly put through its paces, so naturally we invested in a Tungsten 4. So far so good. We took it for a short weekend trip this weekend and we're very impressed. The size is perfect for my wife and I, plus our two small children. We encountered a thunderstorm and it stood up without a single issue. Looking forward to this summer, it will get a lot of use.
