Light, warm and strong—the ultimate two-person tent for winter backcountry touring.
Built to be the ultimate shelter for backcountry skiers, splitboarders and snowshoers, the Access 2 tent is lighter than a mountaineering tent, but warmer than our backpacking tents. The interior is spacious for delayering, and the strong frame resists overnight snow loading. Quick to set up, the tent offers the protection needed for camping in less severe conditions, such as those near tree-line—making it perfect for accessing the bowls, ridges and powder fields above.

Can be a whole year workhorse
This is a very lightweight 4 season workhorse tent. Especially for mountains in pacific northwest where summers are mild, this can be a goto tent around the year. Looking forward to my first winter backpacking season this year.

Access 2 Four-Season Ski Touring Tent Review
Likes:
I absolutely love the Access 2 Four-Season Ski Touring Tent! Its durability and robust construction make it an excellent choice for any outdoor adventure. The ease of setup impressed me, and the materials used ensure it stands up well to various weather conditions. The tent's design also provides ample space without compromising on weight, making it ideal for extended trips.
Dislikes:
While my overall experience was fantastic, I did notice a minor inconvenience regarding the zipper. It occasionally required a bit of extra effort, especially in colder temperatures. However, this did not significantly impact my satisfaction with the tent.
Ideal Use and Audience:
The Access 2 Four-Season Ski Touring Tent is ideal for serious outdoor enthusiasts looking for a reliable shelter during four-season activities. Its lightweight design and compact size make it perfect for backpackers and ski tourers who prioritize efficiency without sacrificing quality.
True to Size, Quality, Color, Fit:
The tent's size is true to its specifications, providing enough room for two individuals comfortably. The quality of the materials used exceeded my expectations, ensuring durability and longevity. The color is vibrant, adding a touch of personality to the camping experience. Regarding fit, the tent accommodated my gear well, and the well-thought-out design contributed to a comfortable stay.

I bought this tent for
I bought this tent for winter camping. It's very intuitive and easy to pitch and take down. For how durable and warm it is its quite light and reasonably compact to pack around. On cold nights condensation is hard to stop with two people, but that's the price you pay to be warm in the winter. The pegs that come with it are too thin for use in the snow, so you need to buy separate snow specific wide pegs, or some alternative. For a summer tent I imagine its overkill and would be too warm.

Great shoulder season tent
The MSR access is billed as a four-season ski touring tent (and it does this well at the treeline), it really excels as a three-season backpacking tent for two people for those taking shoulder season trips to the Rockies. The setup of this tent is straightforward and it is overall well made. It’ll see good use this summer on Jasper Skyline and the Skokie Loop in September.

Fantastic lightweight 4 season tent
Picked this up as a ski touring below tree line winter tent. Really appreciate its lighter weight over a traditional Fourseason bomber tent. Sure it doesn’t have the same snow flaps or coverage as a much heavier winter tent, but with proper site selection and guyouts this works great. Super happy with it.

Nice tent
I purchased this for shoulder season and winter backcountry snowshoe trips. Nice and light so I don't mind carrying it. Pretty simple set up.... there is no front or back so it's pretty simple. I haven't used it in the winter yet but the clips for the poles like they'll be easy enough with gloves on.
The poles are interesting. There are all attached in one unit... I find this to have both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, I'm never going to misplace a single pole and I don't have to figure out which one goes where. On the negative side, I find it a bit unwieldy (though getting easier with practice) and difficult to pack up small as some sections are a bit long.
The other feature I would improve.... there are small mesh panels on the tent body.... I wish they were a bit larger and had could be closed off. I have yet to see how well the vents in the fly work.
Its not huge inside, but enough. With 2 vestibules it is great.... solo for winter I can keep all my gear easily contained and protected. The vestibules are big enough that I can leave my pack in and still have lots of room for boots and getting out easily.
Over all, I'm impressed with the weight, comfort, and ease though I find the packability of the tent a bit unwieldy.... it will always go up in top of my pack, not in it.

Great tent and very lightweight
Perfect for winter camping, MSR has a winner with this one. Lightweight and great for Pacific Northwest shoulder and winter camping. The solid walls do a great job of keeping the warmth in and the snow and wind out.
