  Great backpack, just a little expensive

  I've really enjoyed using this backpack so far - the layout and pockets are great and pleasing to use, and it's quite comfortable. Things that are holding it back from getting 5 stars are: -the price (you'd think it would at least come with a rain cover or bladder at this price) -sometimes it makes a bit of noise while I'm hiking (I haven't figured out where it's coming from yet but it can get annoying if you fixate on that sort of thing)

  Great day trip hiking backpack

  I’m around 6’3” 200 lbs, and it fits me well. It’s comfortable and I love the waist pockets.

  Excellent backpack

  The quality of Gregory bags is incredible, bought V1 of the Zulu about 10yrs ago and it’s still okay to use. The reason for this purchase was that the side pockets unfortunately have lost their grips but it seems this model has a much better way of handling that with an extra layer, which adds to a stronger base on each pocket. Do note the pocket on the top now is much smaller but it was also inconvenient when full as it would make it too top heavy, I’m also noticing the floating system is much better on my back on this version. My only beef was that they didn’t include a rain cover which cost me an extra $30 and that it doesn’t have a dedicated pocket for it. The rest is top notch, you can definitely feel the quality on this bag.

  Gregory Zulu 30L Great Daypack

  I bought this to replace a 10 year old 30 litre pack which was very basic (no external pockets, single top load compartment) and lightweight, but offered little support or comfort when loaded with more than just snacks and an extra layer. I decided to overlook the extra weight of the Zulu for the promised additional support and carrying ability. So glad I did - this thing is so comfortable that the extra pound it weighs is not felt at all. It distributes weight onto the hips, has an adjustable frame length and sensibly thought out external and internal pockets, but keeps the simple top loading zippered single compartment. Most I’ve ever spent on a day pack, but so worth the extra money as it’s well built, feature rich and just plain comfortable whether cinched down with a small load, or packed to the limits for an extended hike in inclement weather. Love it.

  This day pack is very comfortable to wear and is a good size for a day pack and for hiking in the mountains.

  Amazing backpack for tall men

  Had a hard time finding a backpack for tall torso, and this one fits the bill. I'm 6'5'' with a fairly long torso and this bag is able to truly adjust to 22'' (if not more) for tall individual, with waist belt properly sitting on the hips. Quality of the back is amazing as well. Wish it had two loop holes to carry poles, but able to have both of my poles fit into the single loop hole.

  Ballin' bag for robust adventures

  Robust construction mid size hiking/daypack with thoughtful features. Cavernous main compartment with generous opening and very slick zippers. Waist pockets will fit an iPhone Max and more. Very comfortable back panel. Comparable to similarly equipped, if more robustly materialed, Osprey Talon Pro 30, however the latter has very sticky zippers, less forgiving back panel, and is considerably more expensive. The only thing lacking on this Gregory is a built-in rain cover, which is not a deal-breaker.

  Rugged and tough

  Packs a big punch. Heavier than comparable Osprey's but built tougher. Good zipper toggles. Back mesh does the trick, but personally, the Osprey's system is a little comfier. Does not include a rain cover.

  Comfortable fit

  This pack fits very well and after carrying a pack weight of 20lbs for 3 hours on my first outing I had no sore spots and barely noticed the pack was on. I'm 5' 8" and ordered the SM/MD. The adjustable torso is a nice feature to have and it has pockets in all the right places. I didn't give it a 5 start rating as during my first outing the sternum strap plastic clasp broke where it attaches to the rail. After looking online this appears not be an uncommon problem. I'm working with Altitude customer service now and we will see what the outcome is. A replacement strap is shown on Gregory's website but is "Not Available" at this time. Overall, I really like the fit and features of the pack, it's too bad the sternum strap is not made of something stronger.
