They are the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever tried. Even more impressive is the fact they encourage correct running style and will therefore help prevent the usual running injuries that distance runners incur.

Since I primarily run on pavement, I found that my biggest issues with my Newton Motions were with the small toe box and heal striking when 8-10 miles into a run after my form started to break down. Granted, I’ve been working on how to notice when I need to correct my form during the longer runs, but I have to say that the zero drop is much more forgiving. I definitely notice less heal striking when my form breaks down. I also noticed that my toes are much more comfortable on those long runs too. I will say that my biggest issue with Altra is the very inconsistent fit between all of their models. You can tell they are still figuring things out. I currently use the Escalante 2 (I have two pairs) for daily training. I have the Paradigm 4.5 for walking (too much arch support for running for me, but great otherwise). The Duo 1.5 I tried was a mess. They fit too big (all in the same size) and the uppers and heal are were stiff and caused blisters. I still occasionally run with my Newton Motion 7’s and love the added support on the forefoot and how light they feel. Altra needs to figure out how to cut out weight. All of their shoes seem heavier when compared to comparable models put out by their competitors. I definitely notice the weight difference. As for the Fit4her, my teenage daughter runs with the Torins and she loves them compared to her Brooks. She said she noticed a big difference after a free miles. She says they are much more comfortable!

Have the foot problems I do the Altra shoes had helped the problems not get any worse. I dare say had I stuck with New Balance I wouldn’t be running today.
I also remember years ago going into the running store his Father owns and seeing Golden cutting the soles on running shoes to make the heel and forefoot the same height.

I wish more places sold them. I buy mine on Amazon, but they don’t always have a good selection.
