What’s used for the warmth and is the weight the weight of the jacket? What could be an average ratio for a jacket that’s good till -20c?

I would not buy any of these as they involve animal abuse in their production and if I buy it I’m no better than the abuser. Perhaps a non-animal abuse list would be good to do?

Down is warm, but it needs to be a 3-in-1 jacket to work, unless you want to spray it non-stop with, basically, a nylon spray. In order to use down polyester is needed and if it gets wet, the down gets wet and all cold values drop to ZERO. The North Face got this and made a 3-in-1, I think the Gotham, so the nylon (waterproof shell with taped seems) keeps the insert, zipped in the polyester and down dry and warm. Or, enjoy spraying like it is done in the factory to keep these jackets useful at all. I did not make this up. I shopped at a sports store, Atmosphere, the sister store of Sportchek and it was quickly noted that down jackets, alone are sprayed at the factory, noted I think as DWR, but need to be resprayed, which is a huge pain. Everything I just said was noted to me and if the Gotham is 3-in-1, it should be number one. * I wanted a down jacket, noting warmth and this came with a warning, or, pick a down insert and buy a waterproof shell. My friend’s wife bought a $900 Canada Goose jacket and I assure you, he does not like having to go to the garage and spray it all the time for her, neither knowing this, or they would not have bought it and chose power down (fake polyester in clumps, but in a 3-in-1) often noted as “thermoball”. This sucks. I know it sounds like I am trashing down anything and the warmth is obvious, but so is the need for polyester for it, or the joys or spraying it for waterproofing. Taped seems don’t work for down in polyester. I asked that too. If there is no snow in winter ever, in winter, then this is a great list. This is so people know, because I didn’t.

Hello Tom, unfortunately, we do not sell these but some jackets are designed with them. This may be something you would have to reach out directly to the brand for.

It forms a tunnel and attaches to the existing hood – protection from the wind.

In my experience, it’s like wrapping up in your comforter and braving the cold. It is rather shapeless but makes up for that in warmth.
