In all cases, the size M in Slim Fit was ok in the shoulder area, but around the hips and seat area much too tight. Size L, however, was then altogether too big. Could it be a possibility to try Fusion Fit in size L? This would then have to be between M and L, right?

Hi Maria, both the sleeve and coat length are slightly shorter on the Fusion fit Expedition Parka, enough to make a difference. You can see a good example here, on Canada Goose’s website.
