However, it has some issues with traction on a rocky terrain. Yesterday, I did 12 quick miles in these shoes on a very technical terrain. It was pouring a day prior and overnight and the trail was extremely wet and slippery. I was “rock-scating” a lot, especially on the downhills and wet uphill scrambles. On a positive note, I was running without socks and it felt great, except a few tiny bruises, but I think the feet need to get used to minor frictions when sock-less. I definitely am going to give them another try on a dry terrain.

I got them for the water evacuation and superior wet traction. They do fit a tad snug for somebody who has a wide foot, but a loosening the lace all the way is enough. Once they are on they felt narrow, but once running in them they have started to form to my feet more. I was worried the rubber mesh would feel unnatural, but again Once they break in I presume they are an excellent running shoe for dry and wet conditions especially.

The Amphib is an all-around practical shoe for runners who frequently run in damp terrain.

i am also considering these shoes for spartan races and in my opinion and after doing some searching i think these will be perfect for just that! good grip,a good ride and good performance in water is all i ask for as i have only ran spartan races in street shoes, have had problems with traction. time to get a little serious with the competition

I’m currently wearing the Saucony Peregrine and would like to find something that holds less water and gets better traction on wet rocks. I’ve tried my wife’s Salomon Speedcross 4’s and like the way they feel as well. Would you recommend the Salomon S-LAB XA Amphib for Spartan Races? It seems like a great choice for someone spending a fair amount of time running with wet feet. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jonathan.
