Hi Paul! Thank you for your comment. I was lucky enough to visit Patagonia during the first week of March, so I came back to Montreal about a week before lockdown. Patagonia closed their HQ the very day after I left, so the timing was more than perfect. Yes, they are very environmentally conscious! They really are making it their mission to convince people to do business the same way they do, and it is quite inspiring!

To answer your question, yes there are clothing manufacturers in Montreal! Kanuk, for example, makes amazing winter jackets in their Montreal factory. Quartz Co. as well. You will find here all of our Canadian brands who are making their apparel here in Montreal and elsewhere in Canada. Hope this helps!

I have visited Patagonia in Ventura. Have been buying their products for over 40 years. I still wear a fleece jacket that I bought in the 70s. I like that they are very environmentally conscious.
Are there any clothing manufacturers left in Montreal? If so perhaps they could do some manufacturing for Patagonia.
I support any initiatives which encourages local manufacturing.

Hi James. Thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right. That would be the next step, and a very important one. I invite you to read this article here. It explains everything you need to know about why Patagonia cannot make all of their clothing in the US (they do have factories in the US though!). I believe you’ll find it quite interesting.

BE A PIONEER FOR THAT. Too many “outdoor” companies start off here and then run to China. Arc’teryx comes to mind, so does GREED. But I think Patagonia exclusively makes every stitch of clothing there. A real shame.
